Q. I'm new to McLean County and want to meet other University of Illinois alumni. How can I join the club?
A. There are a couple ways to join.
-Attend any club event. We'll be happy to meet you, greet you, provide you with a membership form, and accept your dues.
-Download the Membership form from the "Club Membership" link above. Mail to the address on the form along with your check.
Q. How much are the club's dues?
A. Dues are $25 per year for an individual or household.
Q. What are club dues used for?
A. Club dues are the primary source of funding for our scholarship program. Dues also fund mailings, supplies, technology fees, and an informational reception for high school seniors that have been accepted but not yet committed to attend the University of Illinois.
Q. What are the benefits of club membership?
A. There are numerous benefits, including but not limited to camaraderie with other Illinois alumni, a chance to network with local peers, and opportunities to take part in local activities related to your school. You will sometimes be offered tickets to events at a reduced price or with reserved seating based on your member status.
Q. What is the club's affiliation with the University of Illinois Alumni Association (UIAA)?
A. We are a fully recognized member of the Alumni Association and work closely with them to keep abreast of University issues of interest to local alumni.
Q. What types of social events do you plan?
A. This varies widely from year to year. Some of the social activities we have planned in the past include: game watches, bus trips to away games, ballet and concert group tickets, and golf outings.. We are always anxious to consider your suggestions, so let us know what you would like to do..
Q. Who are your members?
A. Our members are primarily, but not exclusively, McLean County residents who truly are alumni of the University of Illinois. We have singles, marrieds, and dual alumni couples. They represent a wide variety of employers and professions, such as doctors, teachers, bankers, lawyers, homemakers, and many positions in the insurance industry.
Q. What is the difference between registering on the website and becoming a member of the Club?
A. Registering on our website is FREE and offers basic information and details of activities. After registration, and assuming you select to receive Club e-mails, you will be advised via e-mail of upcoming events.
Becoming a member of the Illini Club of McLean County involves paying annual dues and providing your contact information. You may receive discounted prices and preference for tickets to Club events, access to directory information, and a variety of other benefits. You will also be supporting our scholarship program.
